Research Projects

Forging of Titanium Alloys

One of our key research projects focuses on the forging of titanium alloys. Titanium alloys offer excellent strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance, making them highly desirable in various industries. Through our research, we aim to enhance the forging processes for titanium alloys, optimizing their mechanical properties and developing innovative techniques for improved manufacturability.

Friction Stir Processing

Friction Stir Processing (FSP) is a solid-state processing technique used to modify the microstructure and properties of metals. At AMFRC, we are actively involved in research related to FSP. By studying the effects of process parameters, tool design, and material composition, we aim to advance the understanding and application of FSP for different alloys. Our research focuses on optimizing the process for improved grain refinement, defect reduction, and enhanced mechanical properties.

These research projects exemplify our commitment to exploring innovative solutions and pushing the boundaries of metal processing and manufacturing. By delving into these areas, we contribute to the development of advanced techniques and materials, ultimately benefiting the global foundry and digital manufacturing industry.
